Cathode Ray Spectres
Nine vintage CRT televisions fragment a live feed into a shifting meditation on obsolete machines and post-human landscapes.

Built using nine vintage CRT televisions, Cathode Ray Spectres explores our relationship with technology and the spaces we continue to share with the machines we create.
A single video feed was split across all nine screens using a video wall controller, while the physical televisions were skewed and stacked to distort the image into a shifting, fragmented composition. The visual system was built in Unity.
The use of CRTs references both the history of gaming and the idea of technologies being left behind. The work asks what humans might have in common with obsolete machines: bodies and devices that are used, replaced, remembered and eventually discarded, and whether these remnants belong to a kind of post-human landscape.
